Supervision: Where to Begin

Let’s Start With a Solid Foundation

It’s hard to know where to begin when very little is provided as a foundation. Clinicians-in-training are rarely given language for what to look for in a supervisor and supervisors are often promoted to a position of supervision with little-to-no training or support.

As a professional field we limit the effectiveness of our services by neglecting to have a well-defined practice of supervision because this leaves both the supervisor and supervisee in a state of confusion and uncertainty.

When I first started my internship in my grad program, I made a practice of printing off excessive amounts of worksheets because I did not trust my skills as a counselor. While I can attribute some of that to my own insecurities, I can also identify how my supervisors contributed to confidence or lack-there-of.

Whether you are a clinician-in-training looking for the right supervisor or a supervisor that is unsure about the supervision you are providing, this is the place for you. While you might be coming with many questions, Premier Supervision and Consultation has the answers. Whether it is our Resources page to get you started, quick chat on Minnect with Henry, or you are wanting an individually tailored and ongoing service, we have what you need.

It would be an honor to come alongside and show you where to begin.
